Coverage: 47 active published awards; 16 bid reports (which may be per lot). Supplier values exclude multi-supplier awards, frameworks and DPS, and use GBP only. They are published award values, not payments. Published-to-award variance compares single-lot, single-award, single-supplier GBP procedures with explicitly non-framework/non-DPS status; increases remain in the average. Unpublished data stays unknown. Awarded suppliers are winners, not all bidders.

Planning and rationale

Procedure rationaleThe purposes of this VEAT notice is to inform and provide prior notice to the market that National Grid UK Limited (NGUK Ltd) intends to extend its current contracts listed above for a limited period of time to allow the services to continue whilst a new replacement framework agreement covering all of the above services is publicly procured on the open market. The contracts will be extended in accordance with Regulation 50(c)(ii) of the Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016 on the grounds that competition is absent for technical reasons. As above, the contracts are being extended for a limited period of time of between four to six months to bridge the gap until the regulated procurement exercise for the award of a framework agreement covering these services can be awarded. Due to unforeseen difficulties and delays in the current procurement exercise, National Grid will not be in a position to conclude the Framework until September 2023. It is therefore essential that the contracts are extended with the current providers for this limited period to ensure continuity in service delivery before transitioning into the new framework arrangement. Due to the limited duration of the extension period, no other suppliers have the technical capability to provide the relevant services during the short nature of the extension. |
