Bristol City Council is notifying providers about a forthcoming tender opportunity for a range of Carers’ Support Services.

Carers’ Support Services can assist carers to understand what services are available, support them to access services such as a carer’s assessment, financial support and short-term face-to-face support; and have their voice heard.

Bristol City Council will be using the open procedure method to tender for the Carers’ Support Services to include those detailed below.

• Telephone and on-line service for any carer: single point of contact to obtain Information, Advice and Guidance on support with the caring role.
• Short-term face-to-face support. To provide direct emotional support, support with form-filling and applications, including with the Carer’s Assessment.
• Health services for adult carers: Hospital discharge support; Primary Care Support.
• Parent Carers’ Support Service: Practical and emotional support, information, signposting and advocacy to parent carers. This will include supporting parent carers with relevant assessments.

Bristol City Council is moving towards commissioning its services on a more devolved

locality basis. This means that the Council will be focusing the approach towards localised

models of provision where organisations can demonstrate high social value and a significant

community presence. The Directorate is particularly interested in new models of provision

with a high user focus, where use of local assets is integral to the offer, and where there

may be different provision for each locality specifically focused upon the needs of that

community. It is the principle of people being able to access services within the areas they

live as much as possible that we are seeking to achieve and working with providers of these

services that are locally based, adding social value and reinvesting in these localities and

local people.

A pre-tender event for providers is taking place on Wednesday 15th December 2021, 11.00am - 12.30pm.

This will be a virtual event held on Microsoft Teams. This will be an opportunity to meet

the commissioners, hear more details about the tender and the chance for potential bidders

to ask questions before the tender is issued in January 2022.

Estimated value £300k p.a. Length of contract expected to be 5 years (including any extensions)
