Prior Information Notice - Splashes Leisure Centre

New Splashes Sports Centre Medway Council are seeking an experienced capable main works construction contractor with wet and dry leisure experience to deliver a fun, family friendly replacement community sports centre in Rainham. The project is set to be open market tendered in early May 2022, we are seeking a main works construction contractor able to complete the design and construct the facilities through a design and build contract route. The design will be completed to RIBA Stage 4a at the stage of tender. The main works construction contractor is to complete the design and deliver construction for the scheme to RIBA Stage 7. The construction work is set to commence on site in Autumn 2022 following contract award. The works are due for completion in late Spring 2024. The anticipated contract works value is approximately £13m. The new sports centre will be approximately 3,000m2 over two storeys and will include both wet and dry leisure facilities. The requirements are for a high standard of thermal performance and energy efficiency, built to high standard of quality. The centre facilities will include; a 25-metre 4 lane pool, family friendly leisure water facilities, changing facilities, a café, a foyer and reception, a gym, a separate multipurpose studio /party room, welfare facilities and auxiliary spaces. Works will include some external works with landscaping and car park works. The new sports centre replaces the existing facility; Splashes Sports Centre, Rainham, which is currently being demolished and the new Sports Centre will be developed upon the same site (4 Bloors Lane, Rainham, Gillingham ME8 7EG).
