Coverage: 135 active published awards; 133 bid reports (which may be per lot). Supplier values exclude multi-supplier awards, frameworks and DPS, and use GBP only. They are published award values, not payments. Published-to-award variance compares single-lot, single-award, single-supplier GBP procedures with explicitly non-framework/non-DPS status; increases remain in the average. Unpublished data stays unknown. Awarded suppliers are winners, not all bidders.

What is being bought
Northumberland County Council is proposing to replace James Calvert Spence College (JCSC) within the existing site boundary. A new location for the building facilitates the continued safe operation of the school whilst construction takes place with demolition of the existing buildings to follow once the new school becomes operational. This will be an 11-18 secondary school for 720 pupils. It is proposed that the new school buildings will use innovative technologies to create a net zero carbon in operation school. As well as improving the teaching and learning environment for current and future pupils in the schools, improvements to the on-site sporting and community facilities will benefit the wider Amble community. The enhanced facilities include: • A Floodlit 3G full size Football pitch • A Multi Use Games Areas (MUGA) • A series of grass football and rugby pitches It is proposed that all the accommodation will be provided within a single two storey building

While strong leadership and good governance are key components of successful schools, the provision of a suitable learning environment can have a positive impact on outcomes for children and young people. This scheme aims to deliver a service that has positive outcomes for the community. The need to improve the buildings of James Calvert Spence College (JCSC) had already been identified through the ongoing maintenance programme. Improving the buildings of the school would be extremely beneficial to improve outcomes for the Northumberland children and young people who attend it. The objectives of the project are to: Ensure value for money for the Council by driving down all project costs whilst delivering the agreed scope of works to a high quality and to programme. Provide good quality, modern teaching and learning environments for the pupils attending JCSC thereby removing existing physical barriers that distract from the teaching and learning experience. Provide buildings that deliver a high level of environmental performance that is in step with the Council’s Climate Emergency goals. Support the delivery of a coherent transport and travel plan for the local community. Provide modern sporting facilities on-site to enhance the curriculum offer and to provide improved sporting and community facilities for the wider community in and around Amble that will increase participation and associated benefits.
