Coverage: 0 active published awards; 0 bid reports (which may be per lot). Supplier values exclude multi-supplier awards, frameworks and DPS, and use GBP only. They are published award values, not payments. Published-to-award variance compares single-lot, single-award, single-supplier GBP procedures with explicitly non-framework/non-DPS status; increases remain in the average. Unpublished data stays unknown. Awarded suppliers are winners, not all bidders.

What is being bought
Introduction The Cultural Heart programme is part of Kirklees Council's Blueprint for Huddersfield Town Centre. Cultural Heart proposes to create a vibrant culture, art, leisure and nightlife, thriving businesses, a great place to live, improved access and enhanced public spaces. The Cultural Heart is a key Council led regeneration scheme in Huddersfield Town Centre. The overall site area is approx. 7.8 acres and consists of a Multi-Storey Car Park, the Queensgate Market (Grade II listed), the Library and Art Gallery (Grade II listed) and the Piazza shopping centre. In addition to the buildings, there is an extensive network of tunnels servicing the Piazza shopping centre and Queensgate Market. The scope of the regeneration programme is to redevelop the area in its entirety to provide the following core facilities: Zone 2: • Food Hall • Museum • Gallery • New Library • Urban Park • Improved links to the University The above list will be a mix of new build construction and extensive refurbishment of existing buildings Objectives The Cultural Heart will act as a cultural hub for the town where families, visitors and residents can gather and enjoy leisure, arts and music, with activities spilling out into a high-quality public space. Crucially, this will bring new people into the town centre. Main Contractor Procurement To deliver this ambitious development Kirklees Council are looking to appoint up to two main contractors, one for Zone 1 (circa £65m construction cost) and one for Zone 2 (circa £100m construction cost). These contractors should have the capability, capacity, and culture to work with the Council and the programme team on this specialist programme. Buyers Day On 22nd April 2022 Kirklees Council will invite main contractors via Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/kirklees-cultural-heart-buyers-day-event-tickets-300817532337) to attend the buyer's day at Huddersfield Town Hall to meet the team and find out more about the Cultural Heart programme. Due to the venue capacity, the event will be limited to 2 people per organisation.
