What is being bought

Wakefield Council is considering procurement options for Bereavement Services software. The purpose of this market consultation is to ascertain the interest of any qualified providers and to understand what services are available in the current market. Completion of the questionnaire and any involvement in the market engagement exercise does not confer any right or expectation that a supplier will be selected for any contract should a procurement exercise be undertaken.

Lot details

Lot 1

Wakefield Council are looking to procure a solution for managing all burials and cremations, covering bookings, maintenance of Registers, but also a system that will manage and record the Memorial health & Safety inspections. This engagement will allow for providers to demonstrate and advise Wakefield Council as to what services are available in the current market. We would like to understand the current market to help us make procurement decisions which enable us to make full use of the solution. Being able to evolve and adapt our systems in line with innovative technology developments, will help us continue to improve our service to our users and improve their customer journey. Additional information: Wakefield Council operate 2 Crematoria, at Wakefield and Pontefract, and run and maintain 19 Cemeteries across the district. The Council's Bereavement Services currently undertake around 3500 cremations and 850 burials (both full burials and cremated remains interments) per annum. As part of this role the Council operates an electronic system for the booking of cremations and burials, including an online booking system for Funeral Directors, and has a legal obligation to maintain electronic burial and cremation Registers. Memorials sales are also undertaken and Bereavement Services is also responsible for the inspection, testing and recording of all memorials contained within their cemeteries and ensuring that they are all maintained in a safe condition.

Comparable-procurement analytics

Benchmarked against retained Find a Tender procedures with CPV division 48. The category anchor is Software package and information systems (48000000); this is a deliberately broad market comparator. The comparison is shown at several levels rather than pretending one company or region is always the best benchmark.

“Reported bids” is an official aggregate, sometimes reported per lot; it is the closest available competition measure. “Named award suppliers” are winners, not all applicants.

Price-outcome signal

Not enough comparable procedures currently publish both a GBP tender value and a usable lowest-valid-bid value to calculate a responsible price-reduction benchmark. Tenderline deliberately does not infer a saving from named award suppliers or from missing award values.
