These are required to measure the phase time differences between clock signals at frequencies of 10 MHz and/or 100 MHz. Procedure rationaleNPL are only aware of one commercially available model of phase comparator that meets all technical requirements and is CE-compliant. TimeTech phase comparators were previously procured for a bespoke NPL project. Additional phase comparators are required for the same project. Purchasing the additional phase comparators from a different supplier would result in significant differences in both the hardware configuration and the operational software between different parts of the project. This would result in non-compliance to the requirement for the design of the project to be the same as far as practical.
