Coverage: 230 active published awards; 205 bid reports (which may be per lot). Supplier values exclude multi-supplier awards, frameworks and DPS, and use GBP only. They are published award values, not payments. Price reduction compares single-lot, single-award, single-supplier GBP procedures with explicitly non-framework/non-DPS status; increases remain in the average. Unpublished data stays unknown. Awarded suppliers are winners, not all bidders.

Procedure rationaleEdinburgh Genomics, within the University of Edinburgh, is procuring newly-released long-read sequencing technology from PacBio (the Revio system) to supplement the existing instruments it has at its disposal to support a wide range of research groups. This instrument represents a step-change in long-read sequencing, offering 15 times higher capacity at lower running costs than its predecessor. In addition, the new system uses advanced deep learning techniques to further extend the accuracy of the High Fidelity (HiFi) reads, with 90% of bases ≥Q30 and median read accuracy ≥Q30. The solution allows for higher cost effectiveness, greater sequencing depth or multiplexing of a larger number of samples and enables hard to sequence regions to be accurately resolved at an unprecedented scale. Edinburgh Genomics currently possesses the latest version of competing technology, and this system will complement that suite of instruments to ensure it can provide the best possible support to research. |
