Coverage: 70 active published awards; 67 bid reports (which may be per lot). Supplier values exclude multi-supplier awards, frameworks and DPS, and use GBP only. They are published award values, not payments. Published-to-award variance compares single-lot, single-award, single-supplier GBP procedures with explicitly non-framework/non-DPS status; increases remain in the average. Unpublished data stays unknown. Awarded suppliers are winners, not all bidders.

What is being bought
The assessment run by the GMC known as the Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (‘PLAB’) test is the main route by which doctors qualified outside the UK and European Economic Area (international medical graduates or ‘IMGs’) demonstrate that they have the knowledge and skills to practise in the UK. The test is set at the level expected of a doctor at the first day of a Foundation Year 2 appointment, which is normally one year after qualifying as a doctor. The test is in two Parts. At some point during the life of the contract the exam will be re-named and will become Medical Licensing Assessment (MLA) for international medical graduates.
