In this context, a major service review is defined as "a sustainable framework and approach to ensure that health and care services are organised and arranged to meet the diverse needs of our populations now, and in the future". This will have implications for the future commissioning, contracting and delivery of health and care services across whole pathways and having regard for preventative approaches.
