        "description": "In order to administer the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) a number of funds require pension administration software to provide benefit entitlement calculations and payments in compliance with relevant LGPS Regulations.\nOptional additional requirements may include, payroll, provision of an online self service facility for pension scheme members (including current employees, members with deferred benefits and those already in receipt of pension benefits). The system may also be required to provide an on-line portal for use by the various employer organisations participating in the pension scheme.\nThe Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is one of the largest defined benefit (DB) schemes in the world. As at 31 March 2023 the total membership of the Scheme in England and Wales was 6.49 million, spread across around 13,802 employers, and the total funds held stood at around £354billion .  In the Northern Ireland LGPS at 31 March 2023, scheme membership was 160,929, spread across over 169 employers, and total funds held stood at around £9.530 billion . In the Scottish LGPS at 31 March 2022m, scheme membership was 637,044 and total funds held stood at around £61bn.
