At our heart, we are the department for realising potential. In respect of our school buildings, our vision is to provide good quality spaces and places to help schools deliver an excellent education for all children and young people. The Net Capacity Assessment programme (“NCA”) is a programme to undertake a data collection exercise of up to 5000 secondary schools, special schools and FE colleges in England. The data collected will encompass room level data such as room size, room use and room type, and will be collected by surveyors contracted to the Department for Education. DfE will also require a data capture solution to support the contracted surveyors to undertake this activity. It is anticipated that the NCA data capture solution will comprise a cloud based SaaS solution that will provide (inter alia): (i) Capability for a field based data collection of DfE defined data for both school and FE establishments via surveyor operated mobile device app (ii) Development and manipulation of the data by surveyor organisation teams via a web app (iii) Automated nightly transfer of collected data to the Department of Education via mature API, configurable to meet DfE integration and security requirements (iv) Functionality to ensure secure and configurable reporting / export of data for end users (v) Adherence to all departmental supplier and system assurance requirements covering data security and data processing.
