The specialist hardware equipment and software is designed to operate with K-Sim Nav & Eng operating system which is currently running in all simulator facilities. Hardware and Software could be sourced from an alternative supplier but it would mean having to replace much of the simulation suite at a cost in the region of £4-5m. The current simulators have been used for an extensive period of time. During that time a very large library has been developed of hydrodynamic ship models and 3D geographic database areas, nearly all developed for specific clients who expect to be able to use them when they require training.
