There are limited Level 2b neurological rehabilitation providers within the East of England, meaning that the beds at these units are highly sought after, with competition from neighbouring ICBs (who currently are charged a higher spot purchase rate than the above MSE ICB spot purchase rate). The award is required in order for MSE ICB to continue to receive the commercially beneficial rates for placements and provide Value for Money to the NHS. The provider is doing a good job and the ICB believes that it will continue to so for the residents of MSE ICB to access specialist and quality neurological rehabilitation services from providers who are known to deliver good clinical outcomes in the population, and have demonstrated excellent ability to engage in timely discharge processes, supporting the 8-12 week pathway and facilitating flow through acute beds into specialist rehabilitation.
