Significant expansion in renewable generation in the SHET network area has driven a need to undertake a series of network reinforcement and expansion projects to increase capacity and improve network security. This work includes the building and rebuilding of Transmission overhead lines, the development of grid substations, converter stations and underground cable systems. Due to the extent of this project portfolio, forestry is inevitably affected, and woodland removal is required in project areas to facilitate the construction and reinforcement of Transmission infrastructure. In response to this a significant volume of compensatory planting will be required.
